CHARLIE
I am a retired
Army Sergeant-Major of 25 years service, a vet of Vietnam, El Salvador as in Iran-Contra, and was recalled to active duty
during Desert Storm. My daughter-in-law spent 14 years in the army and left as a staff sergeant, she is a vet
of Desert Storm, my son is a vet of Panama, Bosnia, Desert Storm, and was in the initial invasion of Iraq. He
wrote a column which appeared in 52 editions of the Sanford Herald, in which he attempted to tell the truth of what he was
seeing in Baghdad which was counter to what our news media was putting out. Because he made remarks such as "Bush
is no military leader" and "Bush should have never invaded Iraq," he was charged, upon his return to the states,
for making disparaging remarks against the president. He was reduced in grade from staff sergeant E-6 to
sergeant E-5 under Article 15 of the UCMJ, placed on 45 days of extra duty, placed on an indefinite enlistment, and
fined a month's pay. I went to Fort Stewart and raised hell in his favor, I involved the efforts of Congressmen Graham
and Nelson in his case and successfully gained his honorable discharge after 14 years of superior service. I have been
involved in two of the anti-war marches in Washington and have been on the radio and newspapers speaking against the war,
including a segment on French television, I would imagine the FBI has my name, LOL.
So you will know who I am, I'm the author of 14 books, including
a Barnes & Noble best selling hardback titled "Weird Florida", I frequently appear on radio
and TV shows, [102 since last April], including the Fox TV, and History Channel in the Weird US series, and in magazines,
[Hooters, People, etc] major newspapers, speaking engagements, etc. Should you desire
to check me out on the net, just search for Charlie-Carlson-Weird-Florida, you will find me on a hundred webpages. I am strongly
opposed to this administration and to the deadly and expensive folly in Iraq, and to the kangaroo court that my soldier son
was subjected to. We are an Army family who has been totally changed by this administration and Iraq. For the
first time since WWII, no member of our family is in uniform, all because of George W. Bush. This is why we have been
members of MFSO since its beginning.

WILLIAM
My son is at Ft Benning awaiting his medical discharge.
He tells me it could be tomorrow.... next month.... they havent told him anything definite so far as to when they will
discharge him. Im just so glad he's getting out. Words can't describe it and that he won't be part
of Bush's war machine much longer. I'm also an Air Force veT. Normally we vets are proud to have our
sons and daughters serve but NOT not for this president. That's why im so glad he's getting out. I just wish
they would tell us when.
BETH & LUIGI
My husband was in Iraq with the 82nd Airborne.
I was able to march in the first Peace rally, and I also had the pleasure of speaking there as well. We would like more
than anything to end this senseless war, so we are open to ideas. We hope that MFSO in FL can make a difference.
WILLIAM
I am so opposed to this contrived, unnecessary,
evil, deadly, costly and fool's war! My sister's only son is now serving the Army in Baghdad! She is very involved
with MFSO in her hometown of Chicago. I am a part-time Floridian....with one foot in Miami and the other in Brooklyn,
NY. I WILL DO ANYTHING I CAN TO BE OF ASSISTANCE
BRIGETT
My younger brother is in the army and supposed
to go back to Iraq this year. I have an 8 month old baby and haven't been much of an activist for the last year but
my brother's return to Iraq will probably get me motivated again.
KELLI
I have a brother in Iraq.
FUTURE
My son is in the 101st Div . Army 3rdBCT.
He was supposed to get out of the Army in October after completing one years deployment when the "war" started
But they put a stop loss on his unit and sent him back for another year in September, 05 He is a Sgt. He
hurt his ankle very badly the first year and last month reinjured it so badly he was on crutches...He is coming
home for R&R in March. I wish they would let him out. Supposedly he will get out in Sept.
How can we end this nightmare?
STEPHANIE
My brother is a major in the Army who is spending at
least 13 months in Iraq away from his wife and five children, in danger of death and extreme bodily harm every minute.
Every time I hear of a roadside bomb going off, I cringe, wondering if he is one of those reported dead or maimed and word
just hasn’t gotten to us yet. This war can’t end too soon for me.
BEVERLEY
My son-in-law, a highly trained Apache helicopter technician, was deployed
to Iraq on July 22nd. On July July 26th, his entire company from the 82nd Airborne out of Ft. Bragg was reassigned to
ride on trucks protecting convoys between Kuwait and Baghdad. So much for an MOS. So much for valuing our soldiers.
I have opposed this hideous war since before our arrogant president invaded
Iraq with his lies and distortions and imperialistic goals. As conditions in our own country deteriorate daily, the
politicans for hire pump over $12 BILLION each month into this greed driven war of occupation. Those of us with
"boots on the ground" have a particularly pressing obligation to speak out for our brave and committed Soldiers to ensure
they are sent to war only when it is necessary to protect freedom. Our military and political leaders have, for the
most part, abandoned them. We must continually call them to account to do the right thing: END THIS WAR, BRING OUR SOLDIERS
HOME NOW, AND, IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, CARE FOR THEM WHEN THEY RETURN. Surely the once-greatest democracy in
the world can utilize the best trained military in the world to keep the peace, not to wage war against a pathetic band of
fanatics who are succeeding in sucking the life blood from our national soul. I'm committed to do all that I can to
end this war. For my son-in-law, for my daughter and my precious granddaughters, for all military families, and for
our deeply scarred nation.
