CNN.com - Schwarzenegger rejects request for more troops 6/23/06 GREAT IDEA from MFSOer Susan Childs: Hello fellow members,
I caught this article and realized that if Arnold S. could refuse to send his National Guard troops to the border in contradiction
of Bush´s order why can´t our governors do the same thing with iraq deployments. Maybe there is some leverage power
here. . .

From another MFSO parent: Absolutely. The closer it got to my son leaving Iraq the more frantic
I got. Once he got to Kuwait, I was sooo relieved. In Kuwait they have cameras with their computers so you can
instant message and see the person at the same time. I don't know if they have those in Iraq now, but they didn't then.
I bought a $35.00 camera at radio shack and we could see each other while we text messaged. It was better then the phone
because I could see him. We'll pray that all goes well for you all.

- Two Lives Lost Laurie Loving of California mfsoocap@dcn.org 6/22/06 Dear
Friends, I just have to acknowledge
the terrible experience our community of military families went through with the loss of the two captured young men. I could
not get the thought out of my mind of their families waiting, waiting those few days. One family sounds "pro-mission";
the other family has been against the war from the beginning. How do we offer comfort to them? This horrible war.

MFSO OC in California is currently distributing postcards wherever and whenever we table. They have
the pre-labeled post cards addressed to Ca. Sen. Feinstein and we find it handy to give to the many that agree with us to
vent their pleas for sending the troops home. This frees us up to talk to others who are not on board with the "Bring
them home now” message, so that we don’t spend too much time with those who already agree with us and more on
getting the message out to those who are not with us yet. We set out a jar and use this money to pay for the postage which
is also pre-stamped. We don’t mail them all at once either, but let the mail trickle in daily to her office, and of
course they have different post marked locations that way too. SUGGEST EACH OF US PREPARES A STACK OF POSTCARDS
FOR JUST THIS PURPOSE. Paz, Pat Alviso MFSO Orange Co. www.mfsooc.org

From Marge: Telephone Cards for Soldiers:
There are groups who provide phone cards for Soldiers - I believe
that VFW is one. I am not sure how they are raising funds for this. There are also groups who collect cell phone
minutes in the US to facilitate US Troops leaving and returning to the US a phone call home. Again, I don't know how
this is funded.
The AAFES system has discounted phone cards that are available for our Troops. It is
the one thing that non-dependant members of the public can purchase for Soldiers.
My Soldier is pretty remote and is allowed to use military phones to call home occassionally.
There is a time limit on the calls, they are monitored and on a 6 second delay for OPSEC purposes.
As with anything, I would be skeptical of telemarketers, internet solicitators, etc contacting
me about donations - especially if I am unfamiliar with their group. As a rule of thumb, I choose my donations to various
organizations and forward them via check or electronic check as the case may be. I don't share credit card numbers on
the phone for any reason.
